Demosthenis Mariou Markides was born on the 16th of December 1987 in Nicosia, Cyprus.

He graduated in 2005 from the European Greek School of Philips (E.G.S.P) and then he successfully completed his military service in the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus.
He studied Law LLB (Hons) at the University of Kingston in London UK and then he graduated with (Merit) from the University of Surrey UK, by obtaining his Masters degree (LLM in International Commercial and Corporate Law).

In 2011 he returned to Cyprus and he performed his bar vocational course as practicing lawyer at the Attorney General’s office. During that period, he was appointed by the Attorney General of the Republic as President of the Trainee Lawyers in Cyprus.

Demosthenis has been a Member of the Cyprus Bar Association since 2012.

From 2012 until 2015 he practiced law at Messrs. KOUSHOS & KORFIOTIS LLC in Nicosia and from 2015 until 2021 he was the Head of the Litigation Department of Messrs. ANDREAS P. SIAPANIS &ASSOCIATES LLC in Nicosia.

Demosthenis has extensive experience in both Litigation, Shipping and Maritime, Corporate Law and out of Court Legal Services and advice. He regularly appears before all levels of Cyprus Courts, including the Supreme Court of Cyprus, Administrative Court of Cyprus and all District Courts.

In January 2019 he was appointed from the Council of Ministers as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Land and Development Corporation (CLDC) and as of July 2021 he was advanced to the position of the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors.
